Still No Wind

I don't think I could have picked a better time to be injured.  There has been just a couple of windy days this month and the surf hasn't been great either.  All month we have had a very weird weather pattern going on, hopefully we will get back to normal in the next couple of weeks just in time for me to get back in the water.

Wind power

Friday, May 15th there is a meeting on a new possible source of wind powered energy.  It is being held at Maui Arts and Cultural Center at 8:30 A.M.  The rumor has it that they are using long line kites. I don't know if this is true, but I'll post something about it after I go. Windsurfing has taught me the power of the wind and it is so abundant here in Maui, there is no excuse for not using it.  Over 90 percent of our electricity comes from imported oil, which makes us very unsustainable, and leaves us very vulnerable. I'll put up the report on it later this week. I jumped in the water a little yesterday on a 5.3.  I was very careful to not hurt the foot or get my head wet. Even though it's flatter then a lake here it still feels good to be out in the water.

Hoolaulea

May 16-17 Olukai is putting on a stand-up paddle race and a Hoolaulea.  There should be pretty good grinds and Hawaiian games.  Check out the link here at https://www.olukai.com/OlukaiHoolaulea.aspx

Injuries must come in sets of threes.  I was surfing at Hookipa and a lip caught me right on the side of my head.  I felt a pop and I couldn't hear anything.  The doctor said I tore my ear drum.  Another month out of the water I think.  I just finished up my last days of school, so at least it's officially summer break!
