Fuerte Wave Classic

I know it's a little late, but I just saw some great pictures and videos from the Fuerteventura Wave Classic(www.fuertewaveclassic.com).  The event had a really cool format where the competitors judged each other.  I hope to see more events with sick conditions like this.

Spring's here

Today was a classic spring day.  Howling East wind, and small blown out surf.  Amazing jumping.  Riley Coon's back for spring break and I watched him launch some massive jumps at uppers Kanaha today.  Looked like fun.  It's the beginning of photo shoot season here as well, a few of the P.W.A. guys have been showing up and ripping. Can't wait to get back out there...

The news...

I have to say I am pretty bummed at our news networks.  I feel like they don't cover the things that truly matter and spend much of their time on trivial fear mongering.  They have spent so much time on the bonuses of a certain insurance company, while the true story goes by slightly under the radar.  That story is the 300 billion dollars that was just created, and it's effects on America and the world.  Can't stress too much about it though, not when this is what I wake up to in the morning...

Spring Break

How is it spring break already?  That means summer flatness is coming.  Not my favorite time of the year.  I've got a possible Oregon Coast tripped in the works as well as an Oahu trip.  The foots getting better, lots of swimming and homework for now...

Here's a couple pictures of the surf this morning.  Looks like it's going to be sunny, glassy and nice all day...

Why?

The past couple days for me have been very productive seeing as I can't windsurf or surf.  I've been catching up on my school work and my reading.  Here's some pics from the mushrooms session...

Crutches

Well, I got lucky my foots not broken.  I took a GoPro out last week on a small day at uppers kanaha.  This is a little clip of some of the action.  The last wave on there is when I hurt my foot.  It just goes to show that you have to pay attention even when the waves are really small.  It seems like everyones been getting injured lately.  I'm out of the water for at least a couple weeks.  It won't be too bad though, this has been one of the best winters I have ever had.  At least I have some time to catch up on my school work and my other projects.  I saw a couple pictures from my mushrooms mission last week, they're posted on, mauisurfreport.blogspot.com under "Maui's Ponta Preta."  As soon as my foot heals I'll get some better GoPro action.  Sorry about the pictures of my big hairy hobbit feet...

Mushrooms Session

There is nothing worse then getting skunked on a windsurfing trip.  Whether it's flying half way around the world to sit around for two weeks and not even unpack your gear.  Or if it's just an hour drive it stings all the same.  The excitement that you feel while checking the forecast, packing up your stuff, calling your friends hoping they have a better report then you do all disappear instantly if it sucks.  That happened to me last week, I got stoked for a surf/sail mission only to get completely denied.  Not only did I not get to sail or surf, the lone guy on the beach tells me how good it was the day before.  DAMNIT!!  After that experience I swore to myself that I would not make that same mistake again.  Less then a week after that mission, the reports were looking really good again.  So I packed up all my stuff and headed out again.  Persistence payed off this time and I scored head high buttery smooth waves with five or six turns on each of them.  Stoked!!
